What's cuter than Lionhead bunnies?
In our opinion, not much. Sweet little fluff balls with full manes and twinkling eyes, Lionhead bunnies are pure love in a tiny package. Curious and playful, come watch our bunnies as they live their best lives at Oxen-Le-Fields Montana.
About the breed
The most eye-catching feature of Lionheads is their gorgeous manes, giving them the look of a male lion. Having been recognized as a breed only since 2014, the tiny bundle of loves are indeed a force in the rabbit world, having captured Best in Show at the national ARBA Convention in 2018.
Breeding program
Having fostered Lionhead bunnies, we initially planned to use our foster bunny droppings as a natural garden fertilizer. The longer we fostered, the more we got to know them as both a breed and their individual personalities. It didn't take long before we fell in love and decided to invest in a breeding program to support 4-H kids who desire to get into show rabbits. We also wanted to showcase such a beautiful breed by having them on our homestead where lodgers from around the world can see them in person.
After doing due diligence on the breed, we purchased two quality herd does, Trinket and Misty, from Willowmist Rabbitry in Oregon. Giving them a few months to settle in and acclimate to their new home in Montana, we were then tasked with finding a suitable herd buck.
With both does having earned show legs, it was important to find a buck of equal quality. Besides temperament, health and excellent conformation, one must also give serious consideration to color genetics. So after once again going down the proverbial rabbit hole, we selected two handsome bucks from Legendary Farms in Washington, Honor Gaurd and Apex.
Aside from caring for our herd, researching genetics, and supporting 4-H kids, we also enjoy watching our lodgers delight in our Lionheads and share their own childhood memories of owning a beloved bunny. At the end of the day, we feel blessed to be in a position to help the gorgeous Lionhead breed gain recognition through both 4-H kids and people from around the world.
Litters
Future kits will be announced here with priority picks going to 4-H kids.

BORN TO BE LOVED.
Bunny watching
Campers who stay at Oxen-Le-Fields are invited to sit in the adirondack chair in pen #1 and enjoy watching the bunnies, but asked not to chase nor feed them. Because bunnies are pray animals, they’ll run from anything trying to grab them. It’s best to simply sit in the chair and allow their own natural curiosity to prompt them to come check you out in their own time.
Benefits
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Improved mood
